About Dr. Cornelius Davis III

Dr. Cornelius Davis III

A board certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, Dr. Cornelius Davis III can best be described as a passionate, lifelong learner, who is always seeking the next area to master. He holds undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar.

He defected to rival Duke University as a Board of Governor’s scholar for medical school. Residencies were completed at institutions well known for their research leadership in cardiac and vascular care including Duke University (General Surgery), Northwestern University (PhD program in biomedical engineering- fluid/arterial mechanics), Boston University (General Surgery), Albert Einstein University- North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital (Cardiothoracic Surgery) and the University of Texas-Houston (Vascular Surgery).

He practiced in his own practice subsequently in Houston for 10 years serving in various roles at his five hospitals including Chairman of Surgery and Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services. During this time, he started the Houston chapter of Save A Leg, Save A Life, eventually serving as Executive Director of the national organization in 2014-2015.

After taking his practice to Iowa to lead CV services in a three-hospital system for six years, he has returned to re-establish his practice in his preferred warmer climate of Texas. He is published in prominent peer reviewed journals (Circulation, J Vasc Surg, Am J Physiol, J Am Coll Cardiol, Eur J Card Thorac Surg, etc.) and a veteran of the conference lecture circuit primarily surrounding topics of minimally invasive techniques, endovascular therapies and vascular testing technologies. His wife and four children occupy most of his non-working time, but he occasionally escapes to fly airplanes (private pilot), hunt, or play music (guitar/vocals).

I-Vascular Center of El Paso is pleased to offer the services of Dr. Davis for many vein-related conditions, including peripheral artery disease.
